Yesterday I bought a MSI KT3 Ultra, 256mb Kingmax DDR400 ram, and a SkyHawk aluminium case.
Installed everything and took my current Athlon xp 1700+, hard drives, video card and sound card and ethernet card
and put them into the new system. Booted up everything was fine. Then next thing I did was turn on the comp and
then the board starts beeping that my CPU fan wasn't running. But It was running just fine. I have a Thermaltake
Volcano 7 BTW... then I went into the bios and set the config "High Performance Defaults" and saved and rebooted
the computer. Now my system isin't running anymore. And my monitor shows blank screen like there is nothing coming
out from the video card. The D-led has 4 lights and they are all RED. In the manual it says that 4 Lights means that the
CPU is not inserted correct or damaged. But then I took everything out and put my CPU into my old motherboard and then
it booted. So my CPU is not DoA and it's fine. so then I proceeded to install my old Duron 800 into the new motherboard to
see if it's my motherboard that might be wrong... Then night thing you know its the same thing as my Athlon XP... nothing
happened... so what might be the problem!???

I don't think I can return the board to the shop where I bought it from because their store policy says that they don't take
back Refunds/Exchanges... :(

First of all, there are some boards that won't POST if they don't get an RPM signal from a fan plugged into the CPU header, so try plugging a different RPM-sensing (3-wire) fan into the CPU header just to see if it helps.

Secondly, if you didn't try clearing the CMOS you might try that.

Also, try pulling out the board from the case and running it with just the video card and RAM. Make sure everything's very firmly seated in the board. Try a different power supply if you have two of them.

If it still doesn't start, you can probably get the board RMA'ed (warrantied) by Microstar themselves. Here's your contact info.

Hang in there, hope it works out for you. :(

hmm I have tried everything there except for the 2 power supplies. My Skyhawk case didn't come with any power supply so im still using my old 250W... It COULD be the power supply... since its only 250W but it also can't be.. Cause when I have booted with Video card, cpu and ram only, 250w should be sufficient... but it could be a DoA board

so im still using my old 250W

AMD doesn't post lists of approved PS just for the fun of it. Get a new approved 350W from a store with a realistic return policy.

I brought the board back to the store and they so called 'gladfully' took it back with no more than 3 questions and a answer...

Me: Hi I'd like to return the board for either a exchange or a refund.

Clerk: What's wrong with it...
Me: I think it's dead... won't boot or POST.. seems DoA to me...
Clerk: OH, Ok then. you want Exchange?
Me: Yes...
Clerk: Which board?
Me: You have the ABiT AT7 in stock?
Clerk: Yes we do...
Me: I'll take it then...

My new AT7 works like a charm :)
