Not a GSM based phone so you won't be able to take this to any other network except Verizon. If you're using a different carrier then don't even bother. But if you are using Verizon this is a good phone and a great price for it.

EDIT: Forgot to mention free shipping.

DEAD as of 08/04

yes, verizon will activate it for free.

also, this phone is easily rooted, and overclocked. with a rom like steeldroid and a 900mhz clock setting, its actually a snappy phone still and it plays games and netflix just fine.

however, at this price you can find used droid X's on ebay that are in very good shape. and they have a much nicer screen size.

does it work out of the box???
meaning, can i just use it as an mp3 player, gps unit? never as a phone

Don't do it. This phone is already unsupported. Motorola is horrible about that. Will never buy another one.

+1
also, only 256MB RAM and the SGX530 is horribly underpowered for basic Android rendering. I have/had this phone for a while. You'll pull your hair out constantly changing ROMs trying to find something that's consistently fast and low RAM requirements.

no way, i disagree. this phone is still a great phone with steeldroid rom. its not laggy and it plays netflix and games just fine.

did you do any tweaking to it? I found with steeldroid it was fast stock but as soon as I installed any apps or tried to multitask (loading webpage in background + changing a setting or sending a gchat) the browser would get pushed out of mem.

Deal is dead, but it was a horrible deal in the first place. This might have been good just as a media player, but that's it. I had an OG Droid from early 2010 until late 2011 and got it for better than free. I tried several different ROMs, always OC'd it, etc. The moment you load more than a couple apps, it is laggy and slow. Not worth $70, you're better off trying to find a Droid X or X2 used for not much more money.
