I have been working on fixing a friends computer and would like a second opinion (hopefully you can give me a few more ideas). The board is a Gigabyte S370 M-ATX, LX chipset, intergrated rage 3d, intergrated yamaha sound, running a Celeron 400. The board is dead i believe, as when it is turned on the p/s fan works and so does the cpu fan but there is no beep from the system speaker. There are also other strange things with the board as the hard drive wont power up if the ide cable is connected. But as soon as you turn the system on without the ide cable connected (only power) it will power up fine.
I have tried moving the ram (2 sticks) around by have only 1 stick in, putting the other in it's place, and no ram at all and it always does the same thing...... starts the fans and does nothing. I have also tried disabling the onboard vid and sound and that made no difference as well.
Do you think it is dead????
