What would be the symptoms if a motherboard stops working. I have a computer that when I switch it on, all the fans run but I get no display. There are no beepcodes to point me to a particular piece of hardware so I started to think it might be the motherboard itself. Is this possible?

What else could it be?
 
If it was working fine for a while before it stopped working, then it could be either the power supply or the motherboard. IMO, a couple of the other possibles(CPU and RAM) are less likely to have gone bad so suddenly.
