Dead Motherboard?

My HP Pavillion 7955 will not start. I press the button, and get nothing. With the case off, I plug in my power, and the light on the power supply and motherboard are on, (green). Is there anyway to bypass the on/off switch to see if it is the switch or a dead motherboard? Please help!!!!!!

Trace the wires from the power switch to the motherboard, then unplug it. Use something metal to short out the two pins that the switch was wired up to. It isn't unknown for switches to fail. My Cooler Master ATC-620C had a broken power switch new out of the box. A friend of mine had an Evercase chassis that the switch broke free from the plastic holding it so the button on the front of the case was still there, but nothing was behind it.

I would unplug and reinstall all the power supply leads, and the connector for the power switch, in case one of them is loose.
