Dead Monitor: Buying 21" LCD for Gaming. Need advice

Hello All,

I need a new monitor ASAP. It will be the 21" variant and I do a lot of FPS gaming so as a result ghosting, etc etc is a big no no. I know that I should stick to CRT's but my 19" just bit the dust and I had it for 6 years so its time for a change...and I want to reclaim my deskspace!

Now MAXimum pc mag is putting out a massive LCD review next month but I cannot wait that long. I know dells are usually regarded as very good but aren't they getting a bit long in the tooth? Please suggest some more for me, I realize this has been posted many times but I am more curious about current LCD's as I am well aware of the 2001FP's prowess (it's sort of the default choice, especially being on sale almost $200 currently)

Dead pixels and returning merchandise is not something I want to deal with. i know Samsung has a 0 dead pixel warranty out there currently, correct?

Thanks all!

I don't know for sure about that supposed Samsung warranty, but my 213T came with zero dead pixels anyway. 😀

The 213T is an awesome monitor for graphics work, but you probably want to think about the Dell 2001FP instead because it's faster.

I read that it was in the USA as well.

Any ideas? I could get the 24" but that seems like well..overkill. no pun intended

I am thinking about upgrading to a 24". It's a lot more money, but boy, do they look NICE. I figure if I'm going to upgrade, I may as well do it right...

that is exactly what I was thinking. I used the 23" HP today and it is beautiful but it is too large I thought. It seems just TOO big you would need a really powerful system to run at default settings. my 9700 pro/3.2 ghz P4 is getting a bit long in the tooth.
