God it was awful.

Well, not really but. It makes a good story if I say it was.

good to be back though.

I had to go without internet for almost a month, and when I finally got it, it was crappy, so add another month for them to figure out what the prob was...frickin' BT...

An excellent excuse to visit here. Broadband access (via one's notebook) at no cost at any time during library hours; not to mention the room itself is quite a sight, and very architecturally appealing.

I'd live.

we went 2 weeks without internet when we first moves into our apartment... I have full internet access at work, so it's not like I'm totally cut off.

the worst was when we went a week without internet and cable. we had to rely on whatever shows happened to be recorded on the Tivo for our home entertainment.

I'd be FVCKED. My comms are now all done via VoIP with a landline only in place with E911 service and no cell. VZW would have one instant customer, most likely.

Comcast has gone 6 months without so much as cycling my IP, so I assume that their system is perfectly stable in this area.

I would leave the house... and search for an open WLAN in the neighborhood 😀

Some neighbor has his wireless network WIIIIIIDDDDEEEEE open. Our access point is broken so I am sitting on the sofa using this guys bandwidth at the moment... can even get into the routers administration - all default passwords. Handy to check if somebody else is connected that could notice the WLAN LED blinking away.

I was at my friends the other day, (he has wireless.. i dont).

anyways, windows says there is 2 or 3 different routers (all w/o any l/p required... i don't know much about wireless encryption / authentication) within reach from his living room 🙂
I think two of them were just called "wireless" or "default" iirc.

I thought it was pretty funny.
I don't have any wireless cards or anything though. perhaps i should get one for backup 😉
