i have been experiencing problems with my pc as of late, (bear with me, im typing on a keyboard from '91 whos keys dont work all too well, so i will do my best to mash away for clarity.)

anyway, i have a p2 four-fifty(four key is dead), with an FIC KA-6110 motherboard(VIA VT82C693A chipset), about a year or 2 old.
problem is when i turn it on, either two things will happen, 1) nothing or 2) freezes while checking the ram. hmm maybe its my ram i say, after testing several sticks (different brands, kingston, pny, and generic and different sizes too) each in a different slot, it still freezes. i tried clearing the cmos, no luck. cmos battery, nothing. i cannot even get to the bios, or do anything to flash the bios (except physically replace the chip, which i havent tried). the only things connected are the video card(agp) and hard drive.

so any thoughts on the problem? any solutions, comments? should i just throw it out and get a new bundle?

thanks,

RuStY

I would unplug hard drive and try to boot from floppy. Otherwise you are right either mb or cpu.
The only way to go would be to plug the cpu into another board or plug a different cpu into your
board.

Do you have a frien or family member that has a slot 1 system? If so pop your CPU into their system and you will know for sure if its a CPU or MB problem:)
