Finally after many years of service my ABIT BX6 or my PIII 500 is dead. The little woman finally killed it. She says to me "Honey my computer isnt working im going to use yours" that to me sounded like fingernails on a chalkboard. She should have just asked to drive my restored 66 mustang coupe while she was at it.

I tried a different power supply, memory, and video card. I did not have another PIII CPU or I would have tried that to see if it was the board or CPU. I got tired of dinking with it and went and bought her a ASUS A7V-E and Duron 850. How would I know the board is dead? Is there a way to test things without a POST tool?

Thanks

No post, black screen. All I get is the HDD light comes on for about one or two seconds. I can hear the HDD spin up, the case fans come on and the fans on the heatsink (which are on MOBO headers) come on, that is all.

Try disconnecting all your add in cards except the video. Also just disconnect the HD's. All you need is 1 stick of ram, the cpu and video card connected, and see if you get any video output or post signal.

Yup did that stripped down to just video card, no NIC soud etc. No HDD connected, used video card and from a working machine.

No post at all.

I dont think the CMOS battery being dead would cause it to not post?

Got a CMOS checksum error on it about a week ago now that I think about it.
