I heard that these things are not that great for gaming because it skips or goes into a spin or something if you lift it up during games to move it. is that true?

I've had my MX1000 for over a month now and have never had that happen during gaming.

The thing you have to realize is that no matter what optical/laser mouse you get, if you pick up the mouse off the mousepad, it will probably move unexpectedly as you come down with the mouse on the pad because it starts tracking movement again...
I've used it for over a month as well (got it for 49 originally from dealer discount) and have not noticed any problems during fps games.
Though I run higher mouse sensitivity so I never have to pick up my mouse 😛

Yep. I've had mine for like two months and have absolutely no problems with games. I can't praise the thumb buttons more either because they are so useful.
