How do you know the difference?

I've had this one colored (same color) pixel on my LCD since I got it. I saw the pixel test here:

I didn't do it yet, but can someone give me the run down on dead/locked pixels? how do you know the difference and what can I do about them?

Dead pixels are usually dark. Locked pixels are either red, green, or blue. In my opinion you can't do anything about them. When you sit an appropriate distance from the screen they shouldn't be visible, so enjoy your screen and don't fixate on the occasional farked pixel :).

What Mark said.
Dead pixels are much harder to see than locked, aka hot pixels. There is no fix for them that really works. Sometimes rubbing them works, sometimes it just makes more. Of course if you make enough, and it's new you may be able return it.
If the display is new, check the return policy on it from the store you got it from. Your best remedy is a new one.
