dead LCD?

Hey guys, I have an Acer 1917, and recently, the entire screen turned black. Not the black that LCD screens have when they show a black colored desktop, but the black as if it was turned off. However, the power light stays at a constant green, but no buttons on it respond if I press them. Is this a sign that my LCD is dead? Is there any way to fix it, or would it be easier to just get a new monitor?
