Dead Laptop except for LCD. Options?

Well, my sister spilled CocaCola on her laptop and basically fried it. The HD was salvageable and still works fine, but the mobo is useless. I have no idea if the DVD rom is ok or not. I dont think there is anything wrong with the LCD so i was wondering if there is any way to salvage it to use it elsewhere. I have no clue how to even begin doing this so I thought i'd post here for some expert assistance on what to do. Thanks guys

what brand is the laptop? If it is Dell you can find a comprehensive dismantling guide on their website... can't remember where. It is possible other manufacturers may do the same. Unless of course you already have it removed and are looking for a wire-map in which case I can't help you...

its an older model HP laptop...i think about 3 or 4 years old.... I haven't touched the insides yet besides removing the HD... guess i'll keep looking for info...thanks

You can usually find a motherboard on Ebay for most models of laptops........ BUT replacing a laptop motherboard is not for the faint of heart😉 You may be able to buy a "chassis" on ebay that would be infinitly easier to assemble, not easy..... just easier. If it's an older one and you want experiment, go for it. I assembled quite a few laptops from parts and the best advice I can give you is..... be very patient, they use a combination of "snap together" and screws, if you get in a hurry you will end up breaking the small plastic catches and when you are finished you will have a laptop that just doesn't stay together like it should🙁
