Dead JVC camcorder? Used 3 times :(

Fiancee's mom bought a JVC camcorder ~ 1.5 years ago and used it a total of 3 times...

Today, we turn it on and it says the lens cap is on, we take it off, the picture is still black. No matter what we do, we can't see a thing (the OSD is on just fine, but there is NO picture at all).

Dead CCD already?

I had bad experience with JVC too. I bought a 20" CRT TV a couple years ago and after a year or so, the picture went black. I could heard the sound but no picture at all. Needless to say, no more JVC electronic products for me after that.

did you remove the battery and let it sit for a while to reset it?

Hi, here in the UK, JVC recalled a number of cameras which had defective CCD's and they offered to repair the cameras for free even if out of warranty (mines was about 2.5 years old when they repaired it): Text. Might be something to check out.
