Dead Intelli Mouse Explorer.

I have had a dead intelli mouse explorer that I have been willing to RMA for months and months, but never got around to doing it. How long does the warrenty last on this mouse?

My intellimouse manual does not mention any warranty on the hardware. It has a 90 day warranty on the software.

An interesting idea though. My manual states:

"Every Microsoft product comes with a Satisfaction Guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied with this product, return it for a full refund. You must return the product within the number of days specified on the Satisfaction Guarantee notice on the product package. Registration of this product is not necessary to receive your refund."

I can not find how many days the Satisfaction Guarantee is for and the fine print says that you do need the receipt.

My guess is that you are SOL. Mice are not all that expensive though (compared to the rest of the computer).

All the any surface optical mice do not seem to have all that long of lifetimes. I have seen the Mouse Systems mice that require the reflective mouse
pad (the ones that came with older SGI and Sun machines) last 10+ years.

I really have had the best luck with just plain wheel mice. When it starts getting choppy I take out the mouse ball and take a pair of needle-nose pliers
and grab all the junk off the rolling bars (I have no idea what they are called). Some people use Q-tips and alcohol to clean the insides, I generally
avoid using liquids on electronics unless it is necessary.

never RMA one but my friend called once to MS customer service about warranty and they told him it is life time.

Yep, either it's lifetime OR at least 3 years. Just give them a call and they'll send you a new one no problem.

RMA'd a spotty IMouse Explorer I bought last Dec. and sent it to MS two weeks ago.

Just received a brand new Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 today. Very nice.

Done the RMA process though MS twice, both times got the new mouse within two weeks time, and the warranty is lifetime if I'm not mistaken.

how do u RMA a dead intellimouse explorer? i got one too. i bought it when they first came out like in fall of 1999.

Microsoft is really good about hardware warranties. My original IntelliMouse that I bought back in Dec '99 developed the loose cord problem and they sent me a new one in about a week, no questions asked. They didn't even want the old one back! That's what I call service. 🙂

I RMA my Intellimouse and got a new one pretty quick. Actually I didn't even have to send in my old mouse, they just sent me a new one after a couple of e-mails. Didn't feel like calling them so I e-mailed their tech support.

I have been trying to call for a week, the line is always busy🙁

My damned Sidewinder Force Feedback racing wheel's force feedback doesnt work any more, the gas pedal is dead and turning the wheel to the right is only 50% as sensetive as turning to the left!

Argh, does the number work for other people?

Using the online support built into XP, I just finished up getting my new Intellimouse on the way, since the loose cord problem hit me. No questions asked, other then a few quick checks. Should get it soon.

Go to support.microsoft.com instead. I have done the web response 3 seperate times with NO problem.

The warranty for the Intellimouse Explorer is lifetime, or at least it was a few months ago when I needed to use it. I had one go bad. The pointer would just vibrate on the screen. Called MS. They sent me a new mouse. I did not have to return the old one. I just threw it in the trash. A few months later, the replacement went bad too. The cable had an intermittent open so the o/s was always detecting "new hardware" as if you were plugging/unplugging the mouse. Called them up again. Same deal, they sent me a new one and I threw the old one in the trash. Did not have to RMA anything. Just confirmed it was bad with the tech support guy, got sent a new one, and threw out the bad one. Both times it was that simple.
