Dead HDMI Port

I have this Onkyo receiver package:

One of the HDMI ports stopped working. I confirmed because the cable that was in the port works in another port and a working cable plugged into the bad port doesn't work.

It's out of warranty. Is there anything I can do to try to get it working again or would it have to be serviced? Any idea on what it might cost to get it serviced (if that's even possible)?

Take the cover off and have a look trying to see if anything is physically broken/loose.
If you can't find anything, get it serviced or replaced.

As for servicing, find a local electronic repair shop or contact Onkyo USA.

You could also use an external HDMI switch. Some have remote features.

Onkyos have a notoriously plagued HDMI daughterboard. It failed on my 702 AVR while still in warranty, but the nearest authorized service center was 200 miles away, so shipping/driving alone was prohibitively expensive. No idea what the part cost would be, but likely not cheap. I opened up the unit, unplugged the HDMI board for inspection but didn't see any problems. Plugged it all back in and everything worked again! Take it apart and see what happens?

Probably not relevant but worth a shot: I had a couple of dead HDMI ports on my Pioneer receiver that I bought used.

After having trouble getting it to "talk" to my PS3, I was doing some reading, and ran across how to do a factory reset.

I did it, and "poof"....everything worked perfectly, including the HDMI ports.

Don't know if there is such a process for your receiver, but it's worth a shot.
