I have an IBM 8.4GB HD with win2k installed.
Booted up the machine the other day, the win2k loading screen appear, then the BLUE SCREEN OF DEAD with "inacessable bootdisk" (or something like that)... is it dead??

probably not.. bring it to another w2k machien and recover data if u like, otherwise, use win98 bootdisk , fdisk it and reinstall.. should be good unless you hear noises.

And once you get it running...one way or another....create and keep updated rescue diskettes.

They can repair any registry error.......

But for what it's worth, your HD is physically probably ok...but you may still need to do a full format (through the Win2k setup program).

your hdd should be fine, but something might have corrupted the mbr or some win registry, essential file, etc.

does it finish the black loading screen before the BSOD?
what is the exact message?

[edit]
remember that u can boot from the cd and run the repair installation option...
