Dead harddrive??

Sorry if this question is completely naive but when I connect a harddrive I have, it doesn't even start up. Is there anything I can do here or is this drive trash? I'm just thinking that if whatever powers the drive is damaged, then perhaps the content of the drive is still fine??

If there's ANYthing I can do I'd love to hear from someone.

It's definitely not spinning up with any other device. Anything I can do to get at the platters themselves or maybe switching the power unit?

Doubtful, you don't have the needed tools & expertise to do a swap of platters.
If the information is important, then you can take it to the pros, and pay 10-100x more than what you paid for the HD itself.

Or, get an identical drive and swap out the circuit board (it may be a simple screw-on interface, where only the board has a problem but the motor/heads are fine).
