Dead graphics card?

This is on a 4850.

While playing SC2, the screen went all stretched and then I had a bsod. The splash screen has dots like artifacts across it, and during the windows logo loading screen I get a bsod again. I booted into safemode and uninstalled the drivers. I can get into windows without the drivers, but once I reinstall them again I get bsods.

With the drivers uninstalled, I still get the artifacts on the bios splash but windows is fine. Ive had the card for about a year now, and had a good OC while using a aftermarket cooler. The temps never went over 50 degrees.

Just before the first bsod I had a "amd driver failure" or something like that. I have been getting that once every few days for the last month.

Can anyone shed light on this or is it dead?

Kai.

I guess the artifacts at the bios pretty much gives it away. Why the bios splash and not windows though?

Only problem I have now is to wait for a 460, and miss my 3 days off that I had planned for SC2 or impulse buy at a pricey tech store :hmm:
