Dead Gateway M305 notebook computer, what to do with it?

Two years ago I bought my father-in-law a Gateway M305 notebook computer. A few months ago it died on him. It was out of warranty and Gateway wanted something like $200 just to look at it. I only paid about $600 for it so that wasn't worth it.

I finally got a look at it. When I press the power button all that happens is that you can hear the fan turn on and crank up to full blast and stay there indefinitely. The screen stays blank. I tried to hook up an external monitor and still nothing.

What should I do with this thing? I'm thinking of just dumping it on e-bay as is.

Thanks for any advice.

Keep it and buy another gateway like that one and put the ram and the hard drive in it so you will have an even better one. You never throw away a computer cuz u never know when you might need it. BTW the mother board is out on it everyting else is probably ok
