I think Gamefly sucks, and I currently do not know how their Steam-like app and/or DRM will fux with games, but some decent prices if you don't have these games already.

They are download only. I picked up both Batmans and ME2, Batmans don't activate on Steam but ME2 did go through Origin.

Sale page

Some of the decent ones:
Alan Wake $20
Batman AA GOTY $5
Batman AC $15
ME 1 $6
ME 2 $6
DE:HR $10
Nuclear Dawn $6

Does Gamefly work like Direct2Drive where it didn't require a client and it was basically download and enter a key.. or does Gamefly require a client to be on when playing the games?

It looks like the only way to download is thru the client, which is what I'm doing now. Batman is done so I'm going to try removing client.

Edit: No need for the client to be running or installed, as far as the Batmans go.

COD MW2 activates in steam, both batmans wont activate in origin, COD4 wont activate in steam.

Hate having to use another client :(

Because it uses Steamworks. Why are people still so mystified about why or when a game activates on Steam?

I'm not mystified you trolling shit head, I was just saying I am happy and thankful to the OP. I knew it would activate on Steam. That is why I got it. If it didn't activate on Steam I wouldn't have bought it.

Where is this list? In my experience, some games activate in steam, and some dont, but its pretty much a crapshoot.

For example, i just bought the retail borderlands from amazon, got it in the mail today, and it does NOT activate in steam. Other versions apparently do.

Some games i bought from amazon activated fine, others dont.
activated:
renegade ops
mass effect - activated in origin
ME2 deluxe - origin
metro 2033
darksiders
saints row 2
homefront
redfaction
supreme commander
darkness 2
mx vs atv reflex
all serious sam games
deus ex

didnt:
bulletstorm
nba 2k12
stalker chenrobryl

Also gamefly purchases"
COD mw2 did activate
neither batman activated in origin :(

I prefer having everything in steam, but I can live with having two clients. I hate not having some games not activated anywhere, and im defintely NOT using gameflys friggin system.

If i knew some of these games wouldnt activate anywhere i probably wouldnt have bought them. Im at the point where i wish i could pay a little extra and enable them to be activated in origin or steam.

Yea, that whole "duh idiot it uses Steamworks" is a crap argument. Steamworks is just an API for devs to get their game integrated into Steam, and there are plenty of games on Steam that don't require Steamworks.

His point (and yes he could have been nicer about it) is that by knowing it uses Steamworks as its DRM, that means it activates on steam 100% of the time no matter where you buy it.

In other words... all games that use Steamworks activate on Steam. This does NOT mean that all games you can buy on Steam use Steamworks.

Newer EA games will most use Origin. The REALLY new ones aren't even offered on Steam anymore (which pretty much include Crysis 2 and beyond).

Games that use GFWL (Batman and such) can possibly be bought on Steam, but do not activate if bought elsewhere unless advertised as a Steam key.

Im just pissed that the batman games i bought wont activate on origin. I mean, its like buying a valve game from a store, and it not activating in steam.

Way to go EA.

Is there anyway i can sell these games i bought from gamefly? I have the serials, and whoever buys them would have to use gameflys client at least to download them im guessing.

Sucks to have to use more than 1 since origin wants to be in the game now, but im drawing the line there.

You've said this before, but I ignored it because I thought it was just a typo. Now I have to ask you... read this page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batman:_Arkham_City

Do you see EA anywhere? THAT'S why it's not an Origin game. EA had nothing to do with it. It's a GFWL game unfortunately, so unless you bought it through Origin or Steam itself it won't activate there.

What you're doing is like blaming Microsoft that your iPad doesn't work :p

wow sorry, my bad. I dont normally buy games from origin, but i noticed they were selling batman games a month back for their spring sale. From what it looked like, their catalog of games was very small, so i just assumed they sold batman because it was their game - and that only EA games will work in Origin.

For some reason it makes me hate origin even more.

No worries. They're just like steam, they'll sell games from other devs too if they can work out an agreement to do so. Steam is just a lot more popular in that regard.

Well, FWIW, I've been playing Batman AA so far, and it doesn't require any client to be installed once it's up and running.
