sli 460 is generally faster... the 1gb ones are probably smoother than the 768 ones at 1080 res with eyecandy turned up... my kid likes the 5870 2gb card i got a couple weeks ago better than 2 460 768's, says it's not as fast, but it's smoother... he likes the iq on the ati better, too...

does anyone have any past experience with Galaxy's rebate department, good or bad? anyone been pimped? did it take a long time to receive? etc.

Thanks! I didn't know about that benchmarking section of Ananadtech. Very helpful. The 460s look like the clear winner but I think one of my biggest concerns is the 150W premium usage while under load. Always tradeoffs...

I got approved for both of my rebates on the ~$84AR GTX 460 768MB deal awhile back.

Galaxy's rebates are handled by 4myrebate and you'll get your money as long as you've jumped through the hoops correctly.

thanks for the heads up. i've cashed in on quite a few rebates for products of various brand, but all handled by 4myrebate. never had a problem, and i always got my rebate in a timely fashion...i think the longest i've ever waited for a 4myrebate rebate to come was a month, which is not bad at all.

at any rate, i might have to cash in on this deal, as i need a good CUDA card for crunching Einstein@Home ...might use both of them, might use only one and sell the other.

Remember tho - FERMI runs hot, 400 series hotter, and two equals lava. Good airflow/case/fan settings a must.

They are 460s though, so they don't run nearly as hot as the 470s/480s. According to the comparison I linked earlier, in SLI mode, they run just as hot as a single 5770, which is just under 80*C at full load.
