Hey guys, I am thinking about picking up an Asus P2B with a possibly dead floppy controller and just wondering if anyone knew how a floppy controller can die and the mobo still work just fine. Anyone know if a bios flash might bring it back or anything of that sort? Please help me out here.

It is possible to have a bad floppy controller and everything else work OK. It is usually not economically repairable, but the work arounds are easy. The cheapest and easiest is to use a USB external floppy drive . . . or . . . for real power, an internal LS-120 or 240 drive on an IDE channel. Then you are bootable with it. But, with bootable CD drives, bootable floppies are no longer essential.
