I missed out on the series and only watched Serenity. Been waiting for the blu-ray to come down to a reasonable price. Thanks, OP.

I haven't seen the series yet (have seen Serenity), but was willing to buy it cheap on Blu-Ray based on recommendations alone.
 
Kind of irrelevant since deal is dead, but in case people are interested:

In other words, the transfer is great but they didn't redo any of the low-rent special effects (like they did for Star Trek Season 1 for ex.).
