dead fan on 9800 Pro

recently the fan on my 9800 decided that it was gonna stick and not spin around anymore. I can see it still has power, for it tries to turn when I turn the computer on, but it just sticks on something. I ripped it apart, oiled it and such, and it still doesn't work.

I'm looking for the best option for an aftermarket HSF. Some say the VGA silencer is awesome, some say it's crap. I've heard people say get a CPU HSF and drill holes in it to mount it on the video card. I've also looked into the Zalman ZM-80, but I have an Abit IC7-MAX3 and I don't know if it will hit the massive HSF they put on the northbridge of those things. Does anyone know if the ZM-80 does hit the HSF of an IC7-MAX3? I'm also curious to hear what people think are the best cooling options for a 9800 Pro.

Well, I have the VGA Silencer Rev. 3 and can overclock my 9800 Pro to 444/790 which considering the 9800 comes stock at 378/675 and the 9800XT comes stock at 412/750 I would say it does a damn good job...

I've actually had the same thing happen to a gf4 ti 4200. The fan died (stuck and won't spin), but the card appears to still work (though the computer always reboots after about 10-15 mins with card installed. using another card, no reboots).

Anyone know if there's a good replacement hs fan out there for this card (Chaintech ti4200)?

yah I tried putting a small fan I had under the card to get air moving on the HSF so I could use the comp, but after about 20 minutes of running the computer, colors started shifting around. (ie. white would start to go green, then purple, and back and everywhere) It's at that point that I keep the longevity of my computer in mind and turn the damn thing off. so frustrating.

fyi: in response to my questions about fitting a Zalman ZM-80(C or D) on with an Abit IC7-MAX3, I found a post on zalmanforums.com from a guy who says he has both the ZM-80C and the 7000A on an IC7-MAX3 fitting just fine. if there's anyone else that can confirm this, I'd appreciate the info.
