Hi,

When i start up my pc, i hear loud and long beeps. I do not see the bios post screen at all. Should i assume at that point that motherboard is dead or cpu is dead.

Using an Abit motherboard and AMD cpu....

What are the beep sequences? Long, short et al...It might be a loose vid card or loose mem stick. Check em out.

Get the manual for your motherboard and it should tell you what the beep codes mean.

If you are not getting the POST screen, either the CPU, RAM, video card, or motherboard are having a problem. As a first step, check to make sure nothing was knocked loose...
