I managed to get one. I was shopping for my weekly DVDs yesterday and saw this on clearance and picked one up. It looks like a pretty decent case! 🙂

I got one @ 19.99. The "Select preferred store availability" store inventory checker link said there was none in stock at my local BB, but I went anyway.

Sure enough, there was 1 left on the shelf. So I would think it is safe to assume that the inventory checker is not always accurate, thus adding to the WGC (Wild Goose Chase) factor ...

 
Agreed with TestGuyCT, I went to a store that showed inventory using the "Select preferred store availability" and they said they were out. My guess is the employees have them stashed in the back, but as always YMMV!

Now, can someone tell me how reliable / decently performing this PSU is?
Who makes it (i.e. is it an OEM job from xxxx PSU company)?

I've got other PSUs that are reputable quality which I could swap in and use this one as a backup, but if this one is decent I'll just use it.

 
Superb case! I just got 3 of 'em. Probably my best deal in a long time and certainly my best B&M deal in ages.

I got the last 2 available in my area. The quality of the case & the PSU is really quite impressive, even at 2x or maybe even 3x this price!
 
I'd really take a long, hard look at the power supply inside it, Quixotic.....and think about replacing it.

Case in point...I bought a Gigabyte GZ-X1 case w/400W power supply for dirt cheap, brand new. And for under $30, it was a steal, esp. considering Gigabyte's OEM for their cases is CoolerMaster.

But the power supply, by Delta...which isn't a junk maker btw.....while rated at 400W, is anything but a 400W ps. Close reading of the label on the ps revealed that the 400W rating was peak, not continuous....which was 350W. Then the combined max output from all the + rails.....3.3V, 5V, and 12V, was only 335W. And the +12V max output is only 228W....and that's max, not sustained. And who knows what temp these rating were done at......I'd bet my house it wasn't rated at 50C, nor 40C....more likely 25C, so it'll also derate its output like hell when used inside a warm case.

So, read the label on the power supply. I suspect it's no better than a throwaway power supply.......and probably can produce nowhere near its 500W rating at all.

I just read the manual for the power supply......very old design as demonstrated by the "Voltage Selector" switch on the rear of the power supply. So, no PFC.

And it's not very efficient....manual states min. efficiency at full load of 70%. That's horrible....and another sign that it is a way old design and a tossable power supply. Maybe you could get it to blow up under 60% load, like HardWare Secrets did with the Huntkey Green Star 450W power supply did....and Huntkey is the OEM maker for the Dynex power supplies at Best Buy.

FYI
the BB site says 80% efficiency, but the HF pics show a voltage selector switch so no active PFC. Even dynapower's site doesn't say anything about 80%.
 
Thanks for the info on the PSU. Sounds a bit questionable; I'll throw an EarthWatts 500 from a past sale in it and use this one for bench testing or such!

 
I have mine up and running and it works great. It's housing an Abit IP35-E, E6750, 4GB G-Skill PC-800, an MSI NX8600GTS, four 1TB WD GP hard drives, a PCI WinTV card, a PCI eSATA card, a PCI Firewire card, and two optical drives.
I'm going to go get the last one in town in the morning for another build.
Even if the PS did usck as bad as they say, the case alone is worth more than $19.99.
(I did paint the silver parts on the fron bezel gloss black, it looks alot nicer that way!)
 
are you using the PSU that came with it?

if not, anyone have more info on the suckiness (or greatness, maybe) of the PSU?

I was googling it and saw a thread somewhere where a guy said that "recent" BB cases and PSU's were being made by Asus, so I guess that's a good thing? I mean, if it's true?
