For some bizare reason my pioneer 16xdvd-rom isnt playing dvd`s anymore. The regions are fine, i`ve reinstalled and used every copy of Windvd/Powerdvd/Mediaplayer i have and its no cigar. It plays audio cd`s, and reads a data dvd with a few programs on it. Whats going on?

If its reading data DVD's then there is no reason for it to (Hardware Wise) not play DVD Movies.

Sounds more like a decoding / codec error.

What program are you trying to play DVD's with?

Are you using a decoder card or software decoder?

Dan

Im guessing youve already tried un-installing all programs and re-installing them?

Im also guessing youve already made sure that the region is locked on...err....whichever one you use in the states, 1 innit? 😕

UN & RE many times.

Tried DVD genie.

I`m in Australia, so yes the region is locked to 4 (which was the last Hardware change i had left)

whats going on?

Is the DVD actually playing?

Is there a disc read error?

Is it playing sound but no picture or vice versa?

It plays a Lord of tha rings DVD-R ( if that helps) but with say Harry potter, or Metallica no ciger, the screen goes black in windvd, but it doesnt actually start playing, thus no video, sound.

Powerdvd gave me an error code, which when checked online, said it was just a mistake entering the cd key, it wasnt.

Im pretty sure your problem is not Hardware related, im quite sure its a software fault.

I have problems with WinDVD where the screen goes black, and my only solution has been to restart.

ANyone else got any ideas on this guys problem?

Dan 🙂
