Wow, am I the first to post this? I'm reluctant to open it until I find out if it's any good, and I was hoping you would have had it analyzed by now. 🙁

Anyway, I was in BB looking for a $10-20 CD burner, and amazing I found one.

Digital Research 52x24x52
$69.99 - 30 - 20 = $19.99 plus tax

You can grab one while picking up the $1 spindle of blanks.

Edit:
The BTC 52x actually got good reviews, so I was prepared to keep it. But Verbatim-branded Lite-Ons are on sale this week for the same price, so the DR is going back.

Digital Research rebate is an oxymoron or something..

Just be aware Digital Research/IOMagic rebates seem to expect you to have to call several times up to a year after you send in the rebate application to get them to actually send you your rebate. Keep good copies and their phone number handy if you decide to deal with them.

I had a similar experiance as webley.

I did get my rebate from Digital Research but only after 9 months and numerous phone calls and e-mails.

yeah i wanna know too...i actually saw this deal in the paper and got interested; some ppl @ AT and obese wallet say that its a BTC unit? i dunno if thats good or bad; opinions?

I purchased this when it was $20 a couple of weeks ago and am thinking about another one. The unit I received was the one pictured on the box which is manufactured by Benq. I successfully updated the firmware to the latest version using Benq's tool and firmware and it was positively identified.

I'd like to purchase another one because I love the drive and was wondering if the rebates on this deal are different than the rebates a couple of weeks ago.

Yeah I've got this drive, burns fine and everything but digital audio extraction is a bit sketchy.

I got the Best Buy $30 rebate for this drive that UncleBud linked to and awaiting the $10 rebate from IO Magic/Digital. So it's $20 right now, $10 if the Digital comes in.

Take your ebates 1% and forget the MIR. If you have the time to pursue $20 then you might have a chance at receiving this rebate. Otherwise figure your cost after the BB rebate.

I bought one here in Green Bay, in the box was the a BTC. Yuck. Nothing but bad comments about this drive at cdfreaks. I returned it, its not worth $20.

Digital Research/IOMagic rebates cost me $50 between two different rebates. I will rather take my chance and miss a hot deal then get screwed.
