DIAMOND A5970PE52G Radeon HD 5970 2GB 512 (256 x 2)-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - OEM

$299 with Free Shipping

The warranty seems too generous (i.e., I am not 100% that it's correct):

Manufacturer Limited Warranty period (parts): 5 years
Manufacturer Limited Warranty period (labor): 5 years

> This card is 2 HD5870 GPUs downclocked to HD5850 speeds.
> Relies on Cross Fire scaling to achieve performance
> Has worse Tessellation performance than HD6990 series
> Has 1GB of VRAM per GPU, and as such will have VRAM limitation in some games at 2560x1600 4AA/8AA.

Not the best deal in the world since HD7000 series should be launching in January, but probably the lowest price on the 5970 I've seen.

Performance is about 32-36% faster than a single 6970 😀

Here is a full performance review comparing 5970 vs. GTX570 SLI vs. HD6950 CF vs. HD6990.

**** Deal Dead ****, price is back up to $499.99

Man, bitcoin miners would have been all over this a few months ago.

If only this was the HD6990 for $299. That would have been graphics card deal of the year.

It's a good reminder just how fast graphics card prices plummet. This thing hovered for $600-700 for a good period of time. 😀

HD6990 awaits the same fate next year!!

Very quick n' dirty price/perfomance chart of those cards. Based on the "overall FPS" chart in that article and lowest newegg price today. There are a lot of caveats, e.g., the prices I use are assuming rebates are honored, and I'm not pricing the same models used in the techreport article, necessarily.

Y-axis is "overall FPS", X-axis is price in USD. I suck at excel.

Although I don't think I could use more power than what my 6950 2GB @ 6970 can offer (single monitor 1080p gaming), I would dump it in a heartbeat if I could trade up for the 6990 at $299.

Especially since unlockable 6950s are in high demand in FS/FT.

A few months back I killed a 5870 from a cf could I run a 5870 with this 5970 in cf.
If so it might be a good deal for me.

3 way Ali or trifire doesnt improve fps much, but it improves minimums a great deal. However, 1gb of VRAM will definitely bottleneck a setup like that.

If you are gaming at 1920x1200 or below this is an insane deal for $299. This card will crush anything but a 6990 or 590 and is cheaper than some of the more expensive and slower alternatives; 6970, GTX 580.

Ordered one
Now this will add more noise to the pc.
I ordered 5970 viedo card because I killed a 5870 from a cf set up and a single 5870 doesnt cut in large battles at 1920x1200.

It might be a good product and a great price, but I DESPISE Diamond. I'll never buy another product from them after the hassle / total BS I went through with their tech support.

I know, I know... I might feel the same way if I had to talk to XFX, Sapphire, Evga, etc... But, at this time, I've only had a problem with Diamond.

The last thing I bought from Diamond was 3dfx cards.
Never read anything good about Diamond so I stayed away from their products till now.
