Dell UltraSharp U2412M Black IPS Panel 24" 8ms Pivot, Swivel & Height Adjustable LED Backlight Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 2,000,000:1 (1000:1)

$299.99 shipped. Link.

Not exactly a crazy discount compared to other offers that pop up on this same model, but this matches the cheapest it's been on Newegg. With free shipping it's the same as the discounted price that appears on Dell's website from time to time (Dell often charges $279.99 + $20 or more shipping). For those that prefer Newegg, this is a good deal on a great panel.

and i had one fail. 5 minutes on a pc chat and they sent me a new one in 2 days, no cost to me, with a label to drop the old one into the box and ship back via fedex...

pretty much the best customer experience possible...

Where'd you order from? Whose customer service, Dell or Newegg?

That's going to be Dell's customer service I'm sure.

Thx OP, thinking about ordering 2... although I shouldn't...

I figured, but I'm wondering if he got that service after ordering from Newegg. If not (and I assume not but would be thrilled to find out otherwise), then people taking advantage of this deal should be aware that while Newegg may provide similar service, they shouldn't necessarily expect it.

As for ordering 2, I had this on my Newegg price-alert list for a few months and didn't hear anything until yesterday. Was hoping it would go a little lower than $300, but they're super tempting at this price.

I just received mine (bought just before this sale). This is to replace my old Soyo Topaz, which can only run for an hour before acting up. Although this Dell is very nice, it is not as good as the Soyo. I ordered a capacitor repair kit and am going to replace all 17 capacitors on the Soyo power supply, and hopefully that will fix it. I don't know how to explain it, but the MVA panel is just nicer on the eyes. I'm keeping this one for sure, though.

I do like the screen of this Dell better than my other eIPS monitor, which is 23" model from NEC. So it's a great monitor, and the 1920 x 1200 resolution is awesome. This is definitely the best thing you can buy at the $300 price point right now.

I agree re: the Soyos. Still going strong on the 2 I bought back in 2008. For those that got unlucky with their Soyos, or weren't around when that deal was going on years ago, this is a great deal.

If only Soyo didn't use such crap components for the power supply. My 3rd one just died on me. First one didn't last very long with a replaced power supply, so I gave up on fixing the second one to fail.

I still have my Soyo (PSU Died) sitting in the other room.
Hoping to replace the PSU, if they ever pop back up somewhere.
It really did have an amazing picture quality, that's why I'm clinging to it. 🙂

What are the primary differences between this and the 2410?

I read on SD if you buy it direct from Dell.com you get the full 3 year warranty, otherwise it's only 1 year?

Newegg states 3 years. Call to make sure, maybe?

AFAIK, the difference is that the 2410 is a full 8-bit panel whereas the U2412M is a 6-bit, so the color gamut won't be as good. Inconsequential for most users, but for serious photo and video editing, the 2410 is the better choice.

There are other differences like ports (2412M doesn't have HDMI for example). However, personally the only reason I'd go to the 2410 is for the color accuracy. And since I'm not a photographer/graphic designer I don't need the added accuracy. The 2412 is a very good monitor and if you get a calibration tool it is even better.
