UPDATE: DEAD

Link: http://configure.dell.com/dellstore...=dhs&cs=19&ref=prevProd&model_id=inspiron-620

Code: X?MFZ$Z4QQWG1P, good through Feb. 13th.

Final price with free shipping = $390 + tax. Here are the specs:

Intel Core i3-2120 3.3GHz Dual-Core Sandy Bridge; 8GB RAM; 1TB HDD; DVD burner; 802.11n wifi + gigabit; Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium; 1yr warranty

You really can't beat that for a productivity computer. It would cost at least $500 to build this from scratch (actually more with current 1TB HD prices), and you wouldn't have a warranty on it. You could even game on this system if you upgraded to a low-power video card, like the HD6670, like this $80 one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161397

Just feels kinda warm to me.

For comparison's sake, here's a comparable bundle at Newegg.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.753182

It has half the memory, a slightly slower CPU, and no OS, and costs $382 with shipping. Assuming you don't need the extra memory, you'd still have to pay about $85 for an OS, making it $465, without a warranty. And this is with the cheapest options available on Newegg. Remember that hard drives are very expensive right now.

Not a bad deal at all. You get win64 + 1tb drive.

I was pricing parts the other day so I think in the end you're saving a little bit of money with this deal. Nice thing is you get a 1 year warrenty.

There's a cpu/mb bundle deal at MC but it's on the 2100. I think 2120 by itself is about 120 before tax. 8gb ram is about $25-30.

Motherboard ~$45

There's a real budget case + psu for $35 at mc. OEM burner is about $18. Used is $15?

I know the Zotax mb comes with wifi but most of the small form factor ones don't and they use pcie adapters. So that's about 20? I guess you could use a usb wifi adapter ~9.

1tb drive is ~$100 - $130.

Win 7 64 $85?

So, definitely savings here. Mrrebates gets you 1% cash back also btw.

This is super tempting as a productivity machine. My wife is looking for a desktop as an upgrade to her 2006 Macbook for home office use. Anyone familiar with the max resolution of the Intel HD Graphics on this chip? Finding conflicting information on the web. Thanks.

can you put a big bad boy vid card in this system?

No. Most powerful card more or less guaranteed to work is the HD6670. Above that, you could encounter problems. Depends on the capacity of the power supply, which is listed at 300w in this review: http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/dell-inspiron-620-mt/4505-3118_7-34857810.html#reviewPage1. You could potentially skate by with an HD6850, but you'd be taking a chance.

Scroll down for Maximum Display Resolution. Looks like 2560x1600 on DisplayPort, perhaps less on HDMI/VGA.

Can this thing do dual monitors? i cant even find this model on their website. I just see the 620 st, not the 620 mt.

It looks like it may have a vga port and a hdmi port? but im not sure if it can power two screens at once.

Answer I found from Christian Wood, an Intel representative active on various forums, including Anandtech:

"The Intel® HD 2000/3000 graphics are capable of resolutions up to 2560 x 1600 from the DisplayPort, HDMI. The Intel HD 2000/3000 graphics can also support dual independent displays. For more information on Intel HD 2000/3000 graphics you can go to this site http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/quick-reference-guide-to-intel-processor-graphics/.

Tried for a while to make it work Termie it alwasy sez "We're sorry, the coupon code you have entered has previously been redeemed"

Yup, it's dead. Had it working earlier today. The expiration dates on Dell's codes are pretty meaningless, as they are also limited use codes.

I told you all this was hot! Gotta jump on this stuff! Hope someone took advantage of it.

Keep an eye on the outlet section too, I got a similar system to this but with an i3-2100 6GB and 6450 in it for 330$ NEW after tax/shipping. Yeah they sell new systems in the outlet.
