I just spec'ed a Dimension 4600 system as follows:

PIV 2.6/800
256MB D-DDR
40GB
48xCDRW (free upgrade)
(basically everything minimized)

Comes to $579 + tax with free shipping too.

Great basis for a performance system

well when you compare this to the deal couple weeks ago:

2.8c/800fsb
ATI 9800
SB Live 5.1
40GB HD
256 Dual Channel
Office XP

all for $650...but thats long gone, so if someone needs a system now, this would be decent to jump on.

Well yeah that was then and this is now...

I agree it's not the hottest deal ever but sub $600 for a 800MHz system is still the best out ther right now and definitely quite warm. The system has onboard 5.1 and an ATI 9800 can be added for $130 or so

I understand that 800MHz is the bus speed, but the title is really unclear... when I clicked on the thread I thought the poster had gone crazy and ordered a system with a 800MHz CPU...

I did also, I thought what a crappy deal under $600 for a 800Mhz CPU system.

Eh - this may be still redeemable if you can use a 15% Dell coupon that they email out. Although w/ Dells, it's just usually better to wait till the next deal since they come out so often.

Perhaps you should post a better deal instead of an idiotic comment.

whoops, jumped the gun there, I thought the deal was for a 800mhz machine, sorry about that.

for your information, you can still get

2.8C
9800
256MB
40GB
CDRW or DVD

for $769 - 10% off coupon.

So.. not a very hot deal

Is that a business or home system?

I couldn't get it down that far with the home.

If you originally mentioned it was a 4600 800mhz was out of the question. Even the 2.6 made that impossible.

lmao "not even close", that cracks me up. you can build a system cheaper than this dell but it would be good for an old man

If you have a 10% coupon you should be able to apply it towards this deal as well.

Adding the 9800 for $130 and subtracting 10% from the total would give you $709-10% - I don't think the 2.8 chip is worth another $54

I think there are currently no 10% coupons out there, but 5%ers have just been mailed :)

yeah SB 4600, same as the last deal except the 100 dollars rebate.

I got a 10% for SB dell dimension systems coupon emailed to me from dell, so that's a YMMV type of situation again.
