Dead Deal - Price Changed- US Robotics 2415 802.11b Wireless PCMCIA Card + PCI Adapter for $45.90 after $30 MIR shipped!

Sweet deal. I think amazon had about the same deal too but they are OOS. Why would anyone buy just the pc card without the pci card for the same price? hehe

WarSong,

Since the MIR applies to both the card and the card + PCI adapter, the only reason I can come up with is when the 2415 is OOS 😀

I got in on the netgear deal but am now wondering how i am going to wire it since my computer is upstairs. I would really like a wireless setup but they are exspensive. Can anyone help me out with my dillema

FFactory0x,

I agree with you on the price issue. The 802.11b products are dropping in price and there are some great deals to be had (like this one) and like the DI-711 wireless router. Depending on how things work out, I will be able to get into the wireless world for less than $100 (likely to be much less).

Keep your eyes open and keep checking Anandtech for more deals. They are bound to come along.

Here is a link to the D-Link DI-711 Wireless Router deal. It is currently OOS, but Amazon may get more units.

Here is a link to the SMC Barricade 7004AWBR Wireless Router deal. It had stock last time I checked (last night).

OT: Isn't Garet Jax (the name) from one of the Shannara series? hehe it's been a long time, but I remember those books kicked arse 😀

Actually yes. Garet Jax was a character from the third book (Wishsong of Shannara) in the first trilogy. Good memory. 🙂

Hm...just don't understand why you don't want the one with the PCI adapter card. Did someone mention it solely cost about $30 each?

Anyway, I scored two today, the ones with PCI card. Thanks for the post.

Okay so right now I have a wireless router which I'm using for one PC and a laptop. If I hook a PC up wirelessly will I only need the card or will I need an access point too?

Thanks.

apemanttt,

If your router is wireless, then it should be able to handle multiple wireless connections (usually 64 - 100). So if you add a wireless NIC to your PC, then you should be able to connect it to the wireless router. Just make sure the router and the NIC are using the same technology.
