Ok, this is my first hot deal and boy it is HOT!... AMD Thunderbird 750 (Socket A) for $87!! it's 17.50 shipped 2nd day, but no tax (at least in NY) so my total was 104!! Can't beat that with a bat... It's listed on pricewatch, the first one with NuTrend Computers, 5.4 reseller rating. One stipulation, you can't order off the webpage... yes, u have to call...

562-695-8823 Ext. 209 Mariah, she'll hook ya up

Sorry if this is a repost, i had to post quick, they're almost out

In the famous words of Jokersmoker, ENJOY!

Mariah said they were all gone! 5:36pm Monday
She said 600mhz(I guess she meant Duron and not T-bird) for $84 and 800mhz for $156
Does anyone know if the Tbirds are like the Durons in that a 600mhz will do 900?

I didn't know that they made t-birds at that clock speed. Good price though, considering u can buy that speed duron for the same amount... too bad the 800's aren't 90 bux :)

Yeah, it's funny that i even saw it. I was supposed to buy a duron 650 @ 950 from someone at the board but it fell through... I have already received my abit kt7 raid and my globalwin FOP 38 (Delta 7000 RPM Fan) so i checked to see where the best bang for the buck was and BAM, i saw that and jumped on it! Sorry i didn't find it sooner, we coulda cleared them out long ago :)

Maybe somebody could write a script that would keep searching pricewatch every so often and let us know when it found a kick ass deal like this. Who knows how many of these things we've missed seeing as how Techwhore got very lucky.

Sigh, i didn't get my t-bird... Mariah called me back and said they were all gone and i wouldn't be charged... I asked her if i could get an 800 instead for a little more and she said no, but a 650 for 5 bux less she could do. Right then i said they don't make them that low, she checked and said "Yeah, it's just an athlon, previous generation" then she did a search for t-birds and 750 came up as in stock and for 155. She said that the original musta been a classic, and again i pointed out that she said it was socket and explained to her that they don't make athlons in socket, only t-birds... she then admitted that she knew nothing. I hate dealing with customer service!!! Now i'm outta another chip. I'm never gonna get a sweet deal on a proc for my new system.

I have to go lament now,
Techwhore

Techwhore,
It looks like the classic bait and switch for which pricewatch is notorious! It makes you wonder if they had any at all at that price. She immediately was trying to sell me the other chips, makes you wonder!

Maybe they are a reputable dealer but until someone actually says they got the chip my opinion of them is pretty low. For now they will never get another call or visit to their website from this ole boy!

EDIT- Agreed the Duron 600 is a most wonderful deal (elsewhere that is) I got the Abit KT7/Duron 600 and immediately overclocked to 900 with stock HSF (temp idle 36C or 41C when cruisin) and absolutely stable. According to Tbird comparisons, there is not a huge difference in performance.

You got that right rebuilder. I don't go to places that conduct business like that. I got burned once when I went through a store like that and I and won't be burned again. As for a duron, i'd love to even just have a chip. The chip i was originally supposed to receive was destroyed by usps. If anyone has a 650+ plz LMK, i just posted a WTB in fs/ft. I don't know that 600 would be right for me, i'm a techwhore, i need to have a real shot at 950 maybe 1000 :)

Sounds like youve researched it but I thought everyone was saying there is no difference in the 600 or 650 since the yields were so high on those chips.

According to overclockers.com database it seems there is no difference in the oc potential between the two. In fact the average oc speed was a little higher for the 600!
EDIT I haven't tried to go any higher than 900 because I needed to get my system up and running quick because my business depends on it. I have heard of others having registries erased and data corrupted. I might use a second HD to boot from for experimentation to try to get to the 950+mhz

very good point rebuilder.. the yeilds are high enuff where the average person could take the chip for 30 bux less and be better off. However, my situation is somewhat unique. I currently have a classic 550, so on the odd chance that something goes wrong and i can't o/c my chip, i will take a performance hit w/duron 600, i will not take such a hit with a 650... i have to consider these things...
