Celeron2ghz/256MB/40GB $399 -100MIR

MIR ends today

Go Here

This has an extra 128Mb ram (256 total) over the 400sc deal for $249... some ppl have said they dont know about AGP on the 600sc though.

There is speculation about new deals tomorrow Linky But it appears to me they are just moving the savings around (ie. free CPU upgrade ~$49 and decreasing the IR or MIR amount that much =o)

Have fun

We just got a 600SC here at work. It uses a ServerWorks chipset, has 4 64 bit PCI slots, 1 32 bit PCI slot, has 3 onboard IDE headers, 4 internal hard drive bays and 4 DDR slots. No AGP, no sound, onboard Gig-E. The case is pretty nice, the rear fan looks like 120mm and the front looks like 92mm.

Given the choice, I'd get the 400SC for personal use, but if you're going to run SCSI (and a 64 bit card), and video isn't a major concern, the 600SC isn't a bad system. For a small office server, it's just about perfect.

So it's $499-$175 instant (shows in cart)-$100 mail-in rebate = $224? I don't see where in the order process to double the memory or choose additional rebates in lieu of the memory upgrade. Can someone enlighten me? Don't forget the standard keyboard and mouse at no charge!:)

duh:eek: was looking at the 400SC....

So on the 600SC I have it at $599 - $225 instant rebates - $100 mail-in = $274 plus tax. I downgraded the HD from 80--->40 GB to lower it by $70.

I got this box back when it was buy one get one free with free upgrade on hard drives(2 120gb IBM/hitachis)... So far it has been great, I was running slackware 9.0, gonna format and install freebsd pretty soon... ECC ram is a must on this, I don't think the serverworks supports anything else...

*Bump for a great server*

To me this is hot...hotter than the 400sc deal.

at this time of the year though, it's difficult to say what tomorrow or 2-3 months down the road holds. Seems like Dell always has killer deals around 1st/2nd quarter

The motherboard is a very nice server board... it's not meant for desktop use... (and a big reason why it doesn't have a agp port, but 64bit PCI slots)

I got the 400SC today, over the 600SC. The reason is the 400SC has an 8x AGP slot that is unsupported in the 400SC, but it does work, and 800MHz FSB support. Also, 64 bit slots aren't a big deal for me, I have just a Promise RAID board, and a 1394 board I will be using.

The 600SC ServerWorks chipset tops out at 533MHz, and I don't think it has USB 2.0. If you use the Intel drivers, the sound ports will even work on the 400SC, including 5.1 configuration. I am basically going to eBay the Celeron, the CD-ROM, the floppy and memory, then I will borrow a 2.8GHz P4 800MHz CPU and 1GB PC3200 from work until the prices come down, then buy them so I don't have to worry about bringing them back in every now and then.
