now if amazon matches this 345.

I have 345 dollars in amazon gift card money. that money earned a 22.5 percent discount .

that gets me to 267. divide by 512 and I get

52-53 cents a gig!

FYI I got one of the 256gb crucial m4's a couple weeks ago, and it will NOT wake from sleep. known issue with these that crucial has yet to solve.

I have a Crucial M4 256 and it wakes from sleep fine. Are you talking about hibernation?

Sleep. Hibernation is just copying the contents of memory to the SSD/HD and then turning off the PC (i.e. no different than simply turning off the PC except that it boots up from the image the next time around instead of a clean boot). Seems that many SSD's are hit/miss when it comes to waking from sleep.

Scored a 512gb for $320 used and felt great about that find... but new drives for this price... that's getting downright reasonable!

Yeah it is. Mine was around $330 (don't feel like making multiple accounts just to use "new customer" coupons). I can remember what I paid for the 300GB VelociRaptors when they first came out. :colbert: 512GB for about $50 more and a LOT faster? Okay.

Alright, gotta stop. I don't even want to think about all the drives I've bought in the past that cost way more, yet a modern $5 USB flash drive is much faster and capacious. :p

If I had realized they don't price match their own sale, I would have got mine from B&H photo... Bought 2x on Monday, called today and they wont give me the sale price, nor can I return them... Have built dozens of machines through newegg, and have never had an issue... Just got some scripted parrot saying no. Too bad, I need ~10K in server gear this year, might have to go Dell/HP for the first time in over a decade if this is the crap I'm going to get.

Affirmative. So, here are the new SSDs I've purchased recently which will be waiting for me on Friday when I go home (for a few days). Pricing is after any rebates, coupon codes and cashback.

512GB Crucial M4 $335
256GB Crucial M4 $171
180GB Intel 330 $111
180GB Intel 330 $111
120GB OCZ Vertex 3 $70

I will need to figure out how best to "deploy" these new drives. :whiste: I'm pretty excited! Most of my existing SSDs are merely SATA II, and the majority are smaller.

New deal @ Newegg business for the 512GB with transfer kit using 10% coupon:

credit to notebookgrail;

Newegg business has the Crucial M4 CT512M4SSD2CCA 2.5" 512GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) with Transfer Kit for $354.

Apply this 10% off coupon at Newegg business (MEMKENTRY2) - Thansk to biffrollerskate for posting the coupon

Final Price = $354 - 10% coupon = $319.49 (Lowest ever).

You can also get this one without the Xfer kit (but comes with a 3.5in Bracket) for
$369 - 10% off coupon = $332 (This has the standard return policy and not the replacement policy)

Buy.com had it on 5/26 for $180 - 5% cashback - $60 MIR with free shipping. Search "intel 330 180gb" at SD if you want a recap. It is currently the second result.

Not a bad deal, most other websites are now offering a similar price though. The only thing is this SSD doesn't have the greatest performance compared to other SSD's. If I'm going to spend hundreds of dollars on a drive and going to keep it for years as my primary OS drive, I want it to be near the top in performance and reliability.

Benchmarks for it are just okay: http://www.anandtech.com/show/5785/corsair-performance-series-pro-256gb-review/5

What I would really like to get is the Samsung 830 512GB SSD for $350 or less, too bad it's around $700 . Talk about major price gouching...:(

For me reliability is the only real differential. Crucial's have been among the most dependable based on reviews I've read, so for this price, I'm not sure what would be the holdup. The performance differences are measured in increments that are minute enough that real world experience should be pretty similar.

But I wanted to get to SSDs only as soon as possible with the lowest risk, so I'm at that point now. Using an external HDD for backups, but everything else is pure speedy silence.
