Circuit City has the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum for an extremely good price after rebates. $199.99 shipped, then a $70 Creative MIR, and a $30 CC MIR. It's a lot out of your pocket to start off, but an incredible price once you get all the rebates in.

Depends on whether or not you like rebates. Late.

nice, I thought I saw a non ZS for 99 this past week, but not this. If I can rationalize it, I might just get one.

Both CC & Creative are fairly responsive with their rebates, usually within the 6-8 weeks specified. At least that's been my experience with them.

I currently have an Audigy 1st Generation OEM, and just got a set of Logitech Z-5500's that I have yet to hook up. Would I notice a difference going to this? Should I wait for something else? Since I can't get digital sound in games without soundstorm, what would be the advantages of this? I hear some people have the analog hooked up for games, and digital hooked up for movies and music. How does that work?

Thanks :)

thenotebook,

I understand the hook up, but I mean, would I have to change settings on the speakers or on the soundcard in windows when I wanted to do one or the other?

you would have the programs set for SPDIF so they go through the digital out rather then analog out on your soundcard

nice find, I think for those that don't mind rebates....

thanks op!

Too bad this isn't for the PCMCIA version (notebook) or I'd be all over this! :)

Thanks OP. Going to take back my Audigy 2 ZS for the Platinum model to take advantage of the S/PDIF connection.

I have an abit nf7-s with soundstorm. Would it be worth it to get this soundcard. Seems like a good deal. I dont mind waiting for the rebate.
CC has been pretty good with rebates. I just got a couple back a couple of weeks ago. Im also looking to get some logitech 680's!

I am tempted to hop on this deal, but I'm not to excited about having my fiber cable come out of the front of my PC. Why does creative insist not to put a S/PDIF connector on their card? I have a pair of Logitech 680's along with onboard sound (ic7-g max3) and the digital optical setup is totally the way to go for everything besides gaming. Anyone have a pair of 680s that can tell me whether digital optical (S/PDIF) makes any difference over analog. It sure does with my onboard IC7-G.

Finally got around to price matching this, I suggest everyone who got in on the deal PMs as well. All in all it turned out to be $79.99 AR + Tax on $199.99. Just a heads up for those who haven't noticed the price change yet.
