I was having shutdowns with my 3.2 P4 and I assumed it was probably the cheap Chinese PS, so I ordered a new 480 watt ps which hasn't come yet.
Probably Wednesday.
However, this a.m. when I came in from my run I noticed my computer wouldn't come out of hibernation. I tried re-booting. De natha. I re-set the cmos. De natha. I replaced the video card. De natha. I unplugged two fans and the cd rom drive. De natha.
At this point, since it's a new motherboard, I'm assuming the ps or the cpu.
I get the green light on my monitor, but no data will display. I can hear the hard drive spin up and the mb led goes from green to red likes it's supposed to. It isn't actually booting of course and I don't get the boot screen. (duh) So, I'm guessing cpu. Anyone have any other ideas? I have an old P4 power supply I could try but I'd have to take it out of another computer. If anyone thinks the ps could still be the problem I'll give that a try.
If it is the cpu will this mean a new install of XP, even if I buy a new 3.2 chip?
Thanks,
Robert
