Dead cpu or mobo? Opinions needed

I've got a laptop that will power up, fan spins, keyboard light flash then nothing, no display or hdrive activity(fan does keep spinning). What do you think cpu or motherboard?

why would you jump to the most expensive part first? Could be RAM too, the power on no POST syndrome is what ALOT of laptops do when they have no RAM in them at all, reseat that sucker o replace with known good, you might get lucky on one of the cheapest fixes there could be.
