Dead CPU from connecting L1 bridges?

Using conductive ink I carefully connected the 4 L1 bridges of my 1ghz/100fsb Thunderbird per Anand's article. I was quite careful to make sure no lines were touching each other, I even practiced on an old cpu for about half an hour beforehand. I also connected the right-most L6 bridge to prepare for setting the fsb to 133 (msi k7t-Turbo R mobo, has a jumper for fsb).

I reinstalled CPU, HSF, and turned it on--nothing. 4 red LEDs on board indicated bad cpu. I tried clearing CMOS, reinstalling, nothing works. Anyone have any ideas? I assume the chip is now dead, which gives me a good excuse to get a new 1.2 ghz chip. But I'd really like to learn what I did wrong, other than not trying it out with pencil first. I used good anti-static practice as well, so I don't think that's it.

Thanks in advance.

take the stuff off completey and see if it still works. BTW did you test to make sure everything worked before you tried unlocking the cpu?

Oh yeah I've been using this computer for a month now, no problems. Any suggestions for how to remove conductive ink?

you nail-polish remover.
Best is non-acetone - that'll make sure nothing get's damaged

I had to re-do my bridges (although I used loctite) & that worked extremely well.
I bet it's something more to do with the bridge you connected for the fsb.
I unlocked mine & even then wouldn't boot over 9 multiplier (800 Tbird)
It posted as 888Mhz (??!?:confused;) Until I realized my fsb for the CPU was set to 110 instead of 100 by mistake, LOL !!
so I would suggest you check things over again.

Hey I just wanted to thank you guys for the help. The qtip w/isopropyl alcohol did the trick, with a little scrubbing. I thought this chip was a goner. Hehe the new 1.2 ghz is on its way already, so it's upgrade time anyway :)
