I have a P4 3.06 based system with an ASUS P4T533c, gig of ram, AIW 8500 DV, Audigy 2, etc, etc.

This morning, the system just froze up -- no errors, no BSOD (winxp pro) -- just froze with the sound in mid note, video stopped moving (was playing Rise of Nations at the time), no mouse or keyboard. Unable to get the system to respond at all, I powered down and then powered back up.

The system no longer even tries to boot -- no beep codes, no video, no nothing. PSU runs, CPU fan runs, exhaust fan runs, HD is spinning (but never seeks).

I have tried swapping the ram around just in case a stick went bad, but no joy.

I have tried pulling all of the PCI cards, no joy. I think I'm down to the video, mobo or CPU -- I don't have spares of any laying around, any suggestions on what to try first?

Thanks,

Dave

Don't need video to make the HD seek.....
No CPU, or even a bad CPU should cause beep codes.

I'd put money on the MB failing..... might wanna contact ASUS for support....they'll ask you to do certain things...but if you follow their troubleshooing steps you'll end up either with a replacement MB from them or finding the source of your problems...

Good luck! and post what happens!
