great deal if you need a bunch of these....

I paid $5 each for 2 via an ATHD a couple years ago.
They are in my win98 machines, and work flawlessly.

Wow, they're almost giving these away now. I've seen single NICs FAR, or $5 OTD before, but this is a good price overall if you need a few spares on hand, or install them for a living. You could actually make a slight profit at this price. I guess that this proves that the "era of gigabit ethernet on the desktop" is finally here.

Anyone know what chipset these use? Older DFE530TX+ used to use Via Rhine controllers, do the newer ones still do that, or do they use Realtek chipsets in later revs?

well the prices of broadband is still pretty stable, so it's not gonna improve for a while... best deals are $30 dsl, which i got, but it's comparable to 56k at times cuz i'm so far away from the center!

The one I got a couple of weeks ago ($3 after rebate) is a Realtek 8139.

I was gonna get me a pack but they're sold out =\

I've used the DFE-530TX cards since be beginning of time and they've all served me well. Too bad I missed out on this one.

One can check availability at one's local store by inputting one's zipcode. Many stores still have stock on hand, even when online availability appears sold out.

Thanks for the heads up. Picked up a pack of these. I also bought a Belkin router for $10, after rebates, while I was there.
