DEAD compaq evo 1020v laptop won't boot

w/ compaq evo 1020v
well i got this laptop from a teacher from local school,she says working laptop
but needs to recharge battery.
well the lappy has been charging for two hrs.and still blinks orange.i turned it on
and green lite comes on w/still blinks orange .there is nothing at all on lcd.'i then hooked it up to working monitor still no winders at all.
please help me.
on the side repairs are an option if need be(almost anyone from this forum that is) i called # left by teacher (no such #)

sounds like a dead duck, donate it or strip and sell the parts.

Try removing the battery and running it off of just ac. Could just be a dead battery shorting it out. Also try taking out the ram and reseating it.
