Price was at $54.95 yesterday (CC Springfield VA), and store shelf price tag was even advertising the -$10 cost after rebates (each of which just need copy of UPC)..

The ad mentioned PC133 ONLY. Does that mean it is not backwards compatible?

Thanks

EDIT: answered my own question...the link goes right to the page that says it is NOT backwards compatible. bummer

I think that is most likely cas3 right?
not good since all generic are cas3 anyway and their much cheaper.
BTW, I have 4 512mb that I got for 27 each. not a bad deal and they work great.

They're much cheaper than $5?

I got a deal a Centon 256MB PC133 a while ago (not as good as this), and the SPD has it at CAS 3 even for 100MHz and 66MHz, but it did CAS2 at 150MHz at the tightest BIOS timing (Turbo?) and ran memtest for 24 hours without errors. Surprised me.

Centon wanted the ORIGINAL receipt. Copy not accepted according to their site.

However very old motherboards recognize it as 128MB due to the limitations of the old chipset. For instance BX motherboards. Mostly if your mobo is old enough that it cannot do 133MHz, it won't recognize half of the memory stick either.

i have to ask the csr for the rebates. (even they printout, she do not even look down...) Anyway, she print out 2 customer copy of the receipt. So i will have no problem with the receipt.

Yeah, i will update title.

SPD is programmed for CAS 3-2-2, but works at CAS 2-2-2 fine. Haven't has any kind of horrible freeze/crash yet. Last time I got in on this deal was in July, and I got some Micron chips on the 7.5ns. The number on the chip is 48LC32M8A2 -75 C.

New chip info:

VDATA
VDS8616A8A-75
H0331

On the back:

MSGVD3E4G316B1AZ1
PC133(3) 256M*8

This time got some Versial something chips on it. Not too sure of the name, but made in Taiwan. Too lazy to open up the computer right now, but I'll do that tomorrow and report back.

Tried plugging it in a Dell OptiPlex GX1, Intel 440BX PIIX4e chipset, and won't even boot up. But works nicely on my Tualatin system.

Not seeing the $35 rebate online anywhere.

I guess the sale is over because the $35 rebate online says:

"Centon 256MB PC133 Desktop Memory (Brand/Model: MEI 256PC133ONLY)

Qualifying items must have been purchased between 08/31/03 and 09/01/03."
