I heard a lot of hype about this game but I didn't really get it, even after watching videos of it. Since I have a trip coming next weekend and I needed a game to play on my flight I decided to give Dead Cells a go so I snagged the physical copy this past weekend for Switch and finally tried it out last night. I ended up paying the extra $10 for the physical copy since I prefer physical and also in case I didn't like it I could sell it.
After "getting it" and understanding the mechanics of the game and what you keep after you die, I can now see why people are loving this game. The control is very tight and it has a great art style and classic vibe to it, with sound to match.
I did hear about some performance issues on Switch and I have encountered it a few times so far. It's not game breaking but it is kind of jarring when it happens but it still didn't really have an effect on anything that killed me (yet at least). It like freezes for a few frames and then when it unfreezes, it will act as if it never froze as far as where your character is. So it basically just like jumps a few frames forward after freezing for a couple frames. Very odd and the devs are aware of it and said they will have a patch for it, but by November at the earliest.
I think this will be a fun game to play on my flights. I still have some of Toad Treasure Tracker to finish too but I probably have like an hour or two left in that game. Other than that, this should hold me over.
