ATi x800 Pro

$389... cheapest so far besides the dead CompUSA deal.

edit... now its 340.99, looks like they dont have any, but still not bad for a pre-order for those willing to wait.

Wow, lucky me, after much debating I had ordered the pro card yesterday and I got the rebate, but with tax it still came to 390 bucks....

Deal would be HOT at $340.99 if they had any in stock, but it's still a great deal considering what everyone else is charging for them at the moment. :)

Edit: I ordered from Computers4Sure when they were $340 but today their website says the X800 Pro has been discontinued. I called CS and sure enough they had cancelled my order, so I placed an order with Buy.com. Thanks for the heads-up on the low price!

New MaximumPC says the Nvidia is the faster card, and with its extra shader support will be the better for Doom III, in a quick once over review between the two. Full blown review next month, so we'll see how they compare eye candy wise...

Huh? There are many, many comprehensive reviews available online (including one on this very site) that are far more detailed and informative than any magazine review. Take a look at them before you draw any conclusions.

I tried placing an order after I posted my message earlier. I took me through the entire checkout process, but at the last step, instead of a confirmation, it just sent me back to my cart. So, it seems they didn't want me to order it!

Oh well, I'll wait for the next big thing. :D

No offense, but I'll take MaximumPC's word over just about anything, especially a review put up by some 12 yr old kid on the web. Not saying there aren't good review sites out there, but c'mon. It wasn't like they said that it blew the X800 card away or anything...but I am curious to see where they end up on the big review next month.

Name me a single 12 year old that got a new gen card to review. "If" there is one, the fact that he was deemed worthy to receive a card to review would make me pay attention:thumbsup:

Next time know what products they should be comparing. The X800 Pro should NOT be compared to the 6800 Ultra (which isn't even out yet). Thats a $350 card versus a $550 card(a pre-order price at several websites). Compare it to the 5950 Ultra, which gets absolutely rocked by the X800 Pro. Even comparing the 6800 Ultra to the x800 XT Platinum, it is an even tradeoff on the games they win.

And 12 year old kid on the web at the major review sites? Please, the majority of good review sites garner much more respect then MaximumPC.

You are posting on Anandtech forums, Anandtech is a website with comprehensive reviews of both the 6800 Ultra and the X800 Pro, Maximum PC is a watered down version of everything you can find on Anandtech. I would trust Anandtech before I trusted Maximum PC.

In any case, I agree with nycxandy on this one...for you, ignorance is bliss.
