Good deal. How does this compare with the internal Sony drive they had for the same price recently (I bought that one but may return it if this one's as good)?

Picked this deal up. Works awesome. My only minor quible is that the drive is beige and the case is black/silver. Hardly worth mentioning.

Detected and installed automatically. It's completely silent when playing DVD's and emits a very muted swoosh when burning/reading at full speed. There's no fan, but it's still room temp after burning several DVDs.

Picked up the 25 pack of DVD+R media for $25 too. Burns discs at 11MB/sec, or 7 minutes per.

The drive is a Lite-On 811S and the media is Ricoh. Latest firmware (HSOP) already installed, so no flash needed. Bitsetting is incredibly simple, though I haven't been in a situation where I would need it. Nice to know it's no problem.
