Officemax (in store only) this week on page 3 of the ad has the Logitech v400 laptop dual laser cordless mouse. This mouse has an little USB receiver that slides out of the mouse to plug into the laptop then slides back when you are done. Its very small, smaller than most flash cards. It takes only ONE AA battery.

Logitech's product page:
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/produ...etails/US/EN,CRID=2146,CONTENTID=10915

MSRP is $50 for this baby, but even the lowest prices on froogle are about $36 plus shipping.

Note: I think there's a nationwide shortage on this mouse. Almost none of the cheaper online retailers have it in stock, and no officemax stores in my city had it in stock. So get a raincheck since its a non rebate, out the door price.

Amazon says the mouse isn't released yet, and all the usual suspects that I visited (cusa, OD, CC, BB) had it, so its possible that this mouse isn't even released yet lol. Apparently it was announced in September, but I dunno if it started selling yet, or perhaps it sold so well everyone is sold out.

Edit: My store wouldn't let me get a raincheck, but they did let me go ahead and do an order for it. In fact, the little "out of stock" sign for that item on the shelf said let us order it for you. So hopefully I should get one fairly soon. Anyone found one in store yet?

I'm trying to find reviews, the closest thing I can find so far is:
http://www.mobilewhack.com/computers/re...ogitech_v400_laser_cordless_mouse.html

Update: I called Logitech, the mouse hasn't been released for sale yet. LOL. They said the end of this month is the date. That explains a lot.

That is a pretty cool looking mouse. Anyone know if it uses batteries or has a rechargable one inside? Couldn't find anything on Logitech's site.

TIA

" ? One AA battery"
Near bottom right. I'm impressed they reduced the power requirements to just ONE battery. 1.2 volts is dang low for any normal electric chips (aside from modern intel/amd type CPUs).

Nice. I'd like to replace my fairly new MS wireless notebook mouse with this Logitech, but can't justify the $40 to do so. Maybe if someone wants to give me $20 for my current :).

Officemax in Gainesville didnt have any instock, and none in the distract, yet. I checked the counts and it wasn't showing anything coming in on our truck, but it could ship UPS. It'll come but until they do just get rainchecks and it'll be same price. There wasn't any subs for it (not that ppl would enjoy have the subs for the personal choice mice and the like).

Good luck to you all!

This beauty. I've been using it 5 days a week at work for the past 6 months, and the battery is still going strong.

So did anyone end up finding any of these for sale? Or was the entire OM nationwide out of it?

i'm going to my local OM after work today, i don't expect to find it after reading the replies here. i'll be happy with a raincheck at that price.

edit: none in stock, i just placed an order and was told it'll get shipped to me when the warehouse gets some in.

I went to the OM near my work yesterday. Zip, Zero, nada on the laser mouse. Pretty much par for OM. They were also out of the 15 pack spindle of DL+R DVDs. Most of the time, OM has anywhere from zero to 3 or 4 items of stock for the hotter items that are on sale. The buyers for that chain really are brain-dead.

The predecessor, V500, COULD use one AA battery, but came with two. For whatever reason Logitech designed the V500 to use one or two AA's. If I had to guess, I'd say its the same for this one.

Yeah but I think in this case it is a supply shortage from logitech. Pretty much no online stores have any stock either, even at $50, not even amazon or logitech or newegg. And pretty much no reviews (you know the supply is bad when reviewers dont even get units), so I think its a case of OM planning the ads months in advance as usual, and getting caught out when logitech didn't supply the stuff.

Kind of sounds like a closeout, with no Inventory to start with.

I found out what it was. I called Logitech, they said the mouse hasn't been released for sale yet. LOL. Apparently its coming out the end of this month. So if you goto OM, get a raincheck or place an order for it.

Yea, the guy was confused why they didnt have it in stock. But they gave me a v500 for that price. So... It's pretty cool.

Yeah I was tempted by the v500 myself. But I think I want an actual scroll wheel so I can have a middle mouse button. Most people probably wont care, but I probably will do some games on my lappie so...

Not having the middle button does make me feel a little handicaped. But... it's still much better than my touch pad. And the MSRP is $70 lol... and i got it for $35. That's a good deal. And v500 hardly eats up any battery :)
