A friend of mine brought over his 48x lite-on yesterday. He tried to flash it to 52x, don't know why, it's not like it would be that much faster. Anyway, I have tried everything I found searching around, nothing works. Tried cdfreaks guides also, went from the earliest bios to the latest. The drive is recognized by the bios and windows properly, but it will not read any cd's. Not in DOS or Windows. Anyone have a suggestion? Or should I just tell him it's a goner?

He says the warranty just expired last month. thats why he tried it. I told him he should have tried it while it WAS under warranty!
